Product Designer Diego Arango Arango

Diego Arango Arango (DAA) is a Columbian-born artist who has been living on Majorca since 1988.

Following his studies (architecture and graphic design) at the universities of the Columbian capital Bogotá and of Spain's metropolis Madrid, Arango discovered his love for free-style painting. Ever since then he has been painting in a style which combines visions, symbolism and naivety. Some people associate him with the so-called 'sophisticated naives' of the present arts scene. Arango says about his work, "Something drives me to ban dreams and myths onto canvass". His paintings are strongly dominated by the early art of his home country, the era of pre-Columbian advanced civilisation. Arango revives these old stories in a very powerful manner, with strong colours and universal symbols depicting encrypted, mysterious visions of hypnotic strength which immediately touch the observer.

Diego Arango Arango has created a happy elephant motive for coffee and espresso cups for Berendsohn's COOL series.
